The National Theatre has announced the much-loved production The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is to make its final appearance at the Gielgud Theatre on June 3, 2017

The final curtain to fall on the adored production in the West End
The sell-out play was adapted from Mark Haddon’s best-selling book. When the production closes in the summer it will have performed more than 1,600 times and have been seen by more than one million people in London and 2.5 million people worldwide.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is directed by Marianne Elliott and adapted by Simon Stephens.
The hugely successful play is centred on 15-year-old Christopher who is autistic. When Christopher is found stood next to Mrs Shears’ dead dog, which has been speared with a garden fork, the boy is the natural suspect for the killing. It is seven minutes past midnight and, on order to solve the mystery of who killed Wellington the dog, Christopher records everything in a book he is writing.
Christopher isn’t an average 15-year-old boy. He is a genius at maths but has difficulty coping with various aspects of everyday life. Despite never journeying further than the end of his road and having a distrust of strangers, Christopher has incredible detection skills. It might be forbidden by his father, but Christopher’s detection work takes him on a terrifying journey in which his world is turned upside down.
Luke Treadway plays Christopher is a play that has been praised by critics, described by The Guardian as boasting “enormous flair.”
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has won both Olivier and Tony Awards. In 2013 the original production in London won an incredible seven Oliver Awards, more than any other play has in history.
